In the height of summer, Zeus, the mighty king of Olympus, looked down at the mortal world basking in the golden sunlight. He felt a surge of pride but also a sense of restlessness. Summoning his son Apollo and the nine Muses, he devised a plan to infuse the season with divine inspiration.

Summary

As we move forward toward public testing, there are some necessary infrastructures we are working on to provide a more seamless experience closer to the Mainnet Beta in Q3. This report will address the APOLLO Testnet upgrade and focus on the ZeusScan and Muses Wallet.

Non-tech: Recapping recent highlights

𐓷 IVS Crypto 2024 Kyoto

Tapped into the Japanese market through the IVS event with over 15,000 attendees. Participated in a panel titled "Navigating Bitcoin Ecosystem: A Strategic Look At Opportunity in this Cycle” featuring Bitcoin Magazine, Merlin Chain, Stacks, and Bitcoin.com. We established relationships with Japanese partners and discussed growth strategies for Japan.

The highlight was the side event Recharge with Kyoto Kaiseki A cooling-off gathering to survive the second half of IVS. co-hosted with Stacks Foundation, Fidelion, and Superteam Japan. During this period, our Google Analytics showed Japan climbed to the top ranking in engaging with APOLLO. We can’t wait to learn more about the ecosystem in Japan!

𐓷 Solana Hacker House: 2024 London

Entering the European market by attending the Solana Hacker House in London in 2024. Zeus Network is honored to be this event’s key partner and to present the possibilities of unleashing Bitcoin’s potential on Solana. We’ve connected with partners including Actions & Blinks, Superteam UK, Drift, and Kamino, along with some gaming and payment projects. It was exciting to explore bringing BTC liquidity to Solana and the utilization of $zBTC. We’ve also reached out to some developer teams to discuss the opportunity to build on top of ZPL.

𐓷 Community Call (July 11th): Highlights Recap

ZeusScan: ZPL-Assets Integrator

  • Work-in-progress: ⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁ (20%)

ZeusScan is a powerful monitoring tool designed to track and manage ZPL-Assets (assets empowered by ZPL and entered on Solana) powered by the Zeus Program Library (ZPL) as they communicate with Solana. It provides comprehensive visibility and control over asset transactions, ensuring users have accurate and timely insights into asset flow in Solana.

Key Features:

  1. Comprehensive Asset Monitoring: ZeusScan offers robust capabilities to monitor and track ZPL-Assets and their flow in Solana from various blockchains, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  2. Real-time Verification: Users benefit from real-time verification of asset movements into Solana, enhancing security and reliability within the blockchain ecosystem.
  3. Tailored for Solana: Specifically designed for Solana, ZeusScan provides specialized tools and insights to facilitate ZPL-Asset management and monitoring within the Solana network.

Simplified Payment Verification (SPV)

If you look closely at the ZeusScan UI leak, you will find a column under the deposit process of BTC that shows “SPV Status: Confirmed.” SPV is crucial for verifying BTC deposit transactions and zBTC withdrawals on Bitcoin’s side. Let’s learn more about it.

Simplified payment verification (SPV) is not a new technology, it was created to allow users to verify Bitcoin transactions without downloading the entire blockchain by using Merkle proofs to ensure the sender controls the funds. SPV was mentioned in the original Bitcoin Whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto (section 8).

The advantage of using SPV:

  1. Increase Data Efficiency: Minimize storage utilization from hundreds of gigabytes to dozens of megabytes by avoiding the need to store the entire blockchain for transaction verification. This also provides faster peer-to-peer transaction speeds without waiting for multiple confirmations.
  2. Reduced Attack Surface: By not storing the entire blockchain, SPV clients have a smaller attack surface compared to full nodes, making them less vulnerable to certain types of attacks.
  3. Fraud Detection: SPV can provide strong evidence of fraud through Merkle proofs and legally recognized digital signature technology, even though it does not guarantee that funds haven’t been previously spent.

The role of SPV in the Zeus Network is crucial for enabling efficient and secure peer-to-peer transactions. By using SPV, Zeus Network allows Zeus Nodes to verify transactions without downloading the entire blockchain. This enhances usability and security while reducing data requirements and improving the user experience when managing assets on ZPL-Assets.

SPV is now tested successfully on the testing environment.

Work-in-progress

  • Zeus Node — Singleton Mode (Testnet): ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁ (70%)
  • Two-way Peg Program: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁ (95%)

APOLLO

After the blacked-out of Solana Devnet for a few days, the APOLLO Testnet is back on-chain and open to the Muses Testing Period for whitelisted testing on July 11th.

$zBTC: How would you like to earn?

  • Liquidity Management Program: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁⛁ (60%)

Custodian (Let APOLLO manage your zBTC)

With the UI update, we can now clearly see how the user’s BTC will be managed on Solana. As you can see from the staking process, when a user performs BTC staking, their BTC will be transformed into zBTC and stored in the custodian vault by default. This means users won’t find zBTC in their Solana wallet but staked in APOLLO, earning protocol fees.

Non-custodian (You manage your own zBTC)

If a user wants to explore the DeFi ecosystem on Solana, they can switch from custodian mode to non-custodian mode by withdrawing zBTC from APOLLO into their wallet. However, yields from APOLLO will not be available once withdrawn from the custodian vault. (zBTC withdrawal UI will be updated soon in Q3)

From Muses to Multi-chain Wallet

  • Muses Wallet UI mock-up: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁⛁ (60%)

To optimize the user experience on the APOLLO Testnet, the Muses wallet will be introduced during the Public Testing Period as a Bitcoin wallet browser extension.

The Muses wallet is a pioneer in a larger mission. As Zeus Network promotes Solana as the premier Layer 2 for all blockchains, an all-in-one wallet will be needed to manage ZPL assets on Solana and assets from other blockchains.

This multi-chain wallet will display all your assets from the blockchains that ZPL supports, allowing seamless management of your cryptocurrency, memecoins, NFTs, and more. Explore the Solana ecosystem with just one wallet.

Work-in-progress

  • APOLLO dApp UI mock-up: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁ (90%)
  • Bitcoin Wallet Integration: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁ (70%)
  • APOLLO Point System: ⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁ (30%)
  • $BTC Claiming: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁ (90%)
  • $BTC Deposit: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁ (90%)
  • $zBTC Withdraw: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁ (80%)

Conclusion

Zeus Network’s vision goes beyond Bitcoin to Solana; we aim to bring assets from multiple chains to Solana for better utilization and experience. To support asset integration, we are building more infrastructure and tools for a seamless experience, almost like using the same blockchain. Additionally, we are creating a better interface to visualize the movement of ZPL-Assets and showcase the power of ZPL. Get ready, this quarter Zeus Network will make a lot of noise.
